We were there on 30th June 2007.
As soon as we reached the 5th station of Mt Fuji, she was no where in sight due to hazy and cloudy weather which covered the whole surrounding. Disappointed, we went down to Lake Ashi. Luck on our side, on the way down, weather seemed to clear in split seconds. Due to the kindness of the driver, he willingly stopped the coach where Mt Fuji was in full view! What a sight. No beauty of our camera could catch its beauty and charm.
About 10,000 years ago, eruptions that would later form the New Fuji Volcano broke out between the respective craters that formed Old Fuji and Komitake. These eruptions eventually covered the peaks of both these older volcanoes, forming the Fuji that we see today. The eruptions grew less violent, and by 8,000 years ago New Fuji had attained the beautiful shape it has today.
